Meet Our Veterinarians

Greenfields Veterinary Associates is staffed by a dedicated and professional group of people who love animals and respect the needs of clients.

Dr. Nina Beyer, VMD

At age 11, Nina Beyer decided that she wanted to be a veterinarian; she had always been ”animal-crazy,” according to her family, and her interest in health care came from her mother, a nursing educator. After graduating from Penn State, she attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving her VMD degree in 1987. After a year in northern New Jersey, she joined Greenfields Veterinary as a junior associate; she became junior partner in 1999, and bought out the senior partner, becoming the sole owner of Greenfields, in 2006.

Nina became involved in greyhound rescue in 1992; over the next several years, she spayed or neutered hundreds of greyhounds on their way to new homes. In 1994, she was finally able to adopt her own greyhound, a wonderful dog named Zoe. She has also adopted 3 rescued Italian greyhounds over the years; this toy breed has become popular in pet stores, which means puppy mills. Nina currently shares her time with another greyhound, Juniata, and her horse, Skorri, and she shares her home with a wonderful elderly cat named Jessie. She sings in a choir, reads voraciously, and bakes as often as she can.

Dr. Caroline Lafferty, DVM

Dr. Lafferty grew up in San Francisco and gained a love for animals at an early age. She ventured to Cornell University and earned a BS in ecology and evolutionary biology, then stayed to earn her DVM degree.  During her time at Cornell, Dr. Lafferty met her husband. They decided to move to South Jersey to be close to family, and Dr. Lafferty joined Greenfields in 2004.

Dr. Lafferty’s focus is on keeping you and your pet happy and healthy together. She has done advanced training in ultrasound and is pleased to offer abdominal ultrasound as a valuable diagnostic tool.   Dr. Lafferty enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters outside of work. Her family also includes many furry, feathered, and scaly friends!  She enjoys yoga and gardening in her free time.

Dr. Kirsten Burg, DVM

Dr. Burg is originally from right here in Gloucester County.  She has always had a love of science and medicine.  She earned dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Marine Science and Biology from Coastal Carolina University.  During her undergraduate years, her mom mentioned that she could meld her deep love for all animals and biology into a single pursuit of veterinary medicine.  After taking a position as a technician at a busy small animal and exotics practice, Dr. Burg fell in love with veterinary medicine and proved that your mom is always right!  She switched career paths and earned her DVM degree from the University of Florida.  Dr. Burg’s main veterinary interests include dentistry, oncology, and client communication and education.  She particularly enjoys her geriatric patients and their extraordinary and historic bond with their families.

In her free time, Dr. Burg enjoys spending time with her husband and son.  They share their home with Mally, a rescued Pit Bull Terrier and Stitch, the Bearded Dragon.  She is also an avid reader, baseball fan and beach bum.

Christopher Salerno

Dr. Christopher Salerno, DVM

Dr. Salerno spent his undergraduate years at Tulane University, earned his Masters degree through the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and finally in 2010 achieved his veterinary degree through St. George’s University with a clinical year at Cornell.  He then practiced emergency and small animal medicine in Maine and Pennsylvania before joining the Greenfields family in 2014.  Apart from companion animals, Dr. Salerno has also worked with a variety of wildlife species, including giraffe, bear, and even eagles.  His own family sadly contains no large exotic animals, only dogs and cats!  He enjoys spending his free time sculpting and traveling.

Dr. Jared D. Pitt, DVM

Dr. Jared D. Pitt is a South Jersey native, growing up in Berlin Township. He knew he wanted to become a veterinarian ever since he was eight years old, when he helped his aunt’s Siberian husky deliver her puppies. He received his B.S. in Biology from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA in 2008. After taking a year off, he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Alabama in May 2013. After working in Central PA for a few months, Dr. Pitt came back home and did a little emergency and wellness work in Cape May and Marlton. He also worked for a mobile practice to expand his experience.  Dr. Pitt is excited to start the next chapter of his life at Greenfields.  In his free time, Dr. Pitt loves to spend time with his wife Courtney, family, and friends, cycling, and being active.  Since being married in April 2015, Dr. Pitt resides in Gloucester Township with his lovely wife Courtney and their two fuzzy felines, Ellie and Ophelia.  His personal Interests include Surgery and Ophthalmology.
