Wellness Exams At Greenfields Your Pet Comes First

Mantua Pet Wellness Exams

Head-to-Tail Assessments from Experienced Gloucester County Veterinarians

Pet owners know their pets extremely well. They know their favorite toys, where they prefer to sleep, the treat flavor they like best, and more. But unfortunately, they do not know how to tell if their pet’s kidneys are shutting down or other symptoms of disease. In fact, many pets tend to hide signs that they are unwell. Due to this, it is extremely important that you bring your pet into Greenfields Veterinary Associates for annual or bi-annual wellness examinations.

What Happens During a Wellness Exam?

When you bring your pet in, our veterinarians will perform a thorough physical assessment in which they:

  • Take your pet’s weight and temperature
  • Examine his or her eyes, ears, and nose
  • Listen to the heart and lungs
  • Ensure the lymph nodes are not enlarged or swollen
  • Examine your pet’s mouth to determine his or her oral health
  • Ensure the muscles, spine, and joints are in good conditions
  • Apply light pressure to the abdomen to assess the internal organs

Throughout the examination, your veterinarian will record and inform you of any noticeable changes or concerning developments. We will take the time to explain any necessary steps to take, whether it’s further testing, administering a medication, or bringing your pet back for a follow-up appointment.

We Also Test for Parasites

In addition to physical examinations, we also discuss important ways to prevent parasites such as fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms, and more. Because it is not always easy to tell if your pet has contracted a parasite, we conduct tests each time you bring your pet in for a wellness exam. We will also discuss ways to prevent parasites, how to identify their presence in your home, signs and symptoms to look out for, and treatment options.
